Event Description

Tree Fodder Seminar 2018 Schedule.docx  Schedule updates at:  www.3streamsfarmbelfastme.blogspot.com

Livestock were sustained by tree foliage and tree crops world-wide for 8 millennia. Only for 100 years, in industrial nations, have farmers and livestock been shifting to feeds and foods from tilled soil.   Concerns to sequester carbon and stabilize climate lead us to look at modern adaptation of ancient methods.

This 2018 3rd annual Tree Fodder Seminar includes events to attend separately in any combination, or as a whole: a close look at 3 Streams established pollards and SARE Farmer Grant Demo-in-the-works, an overview day at MOFGA,  rope and harness skills, twig-leaf storage methods, fungal introductions tailored to ramial fodder wastes and larger pruned branches in a silvopastural setting, biocharring options, 3 field trips plus presentations and reports by farmers and other experts, music, swimmable ponds, good food and more.

We have about 20+ acres of woods we can use as a silvopasture, but we're not sure how to start it. The woods are a mess, and we're not sure if we should "clear cut" and start over, or?? We have a lot…Continue
