Event Description

SilvoPro is the course for silvopasture professionals who want to create fulfilling, impactful and profitable careers taking agriculture to new heights. Austin Unruh, founder of Trees For Graziers and author of The Grazier’s Guide to Trees, built TFG into a leading silvopasture and conservation implementation company with very little money, no outside capital, and minimal formal education or experience in the field. In this course the TFG team shares all they have learned through years of applied practice, so you can fast-track your own silvopasture career and practice.

Visit working farms that have implemented silvopasture at scale. Dive deep into the process of developing silvopasture plans.  Interact with a cohort of fellow practitioners.  Learn how to spread silvopasture in your region.  Open up real professional opportunities. The demand for silvopasture is growing, and there’s a real, practical need for more people trained in developing and implementing silvopasture plans.  Access post-workshop coaching by the TFG consulting team.

Dates are November 15-17, 2023. Gathering, lodging and meals at Tel Hai Camp, 31 Lasso Dr, Honey Brook PA. Tel Hai is centrally located to the various silvopasture sites, has gathering space and nice outdoor space. Plan to start at 9am Wednesday (most likely on a farm, exact location TBD), and wrap up early afternoon Friday so that folks traveling from far can hit the road in time.

Plan to carpool between sites, all of which are within roughly an hour. Also plan and dress for the weather as this is a rain-or-shine event, and while we can flex a bit as needed, we’ll spend several hours every day outside.

Our thanks goes out to Northeast SARE, for a grant that covers all tuition for this training course, so that attendees only need pay for lodging, food and learning materials. The cost of the course ($300) includes:

  • Lodging Wednesday-Friday. Rooms sleep from 1-3 people. Given limited rooms, rooms will be shared.
  • Meals (Wednesday dinner, Thursday breakfast and dinner, Friday brunch). Other meals will be while out visiting farms and are on your own.
  • Materials included.
