Please describe, with two or three sentences, why you are interested in silvopasture. Your answer helps us ensure that only those people truly interested in silvopasture are added as members.
Currently working to reclaim several acres of mid-successional abandoned ag land into a silvopasture system. In Enfield NY. Current animal lineup is goats, chickens, and ducks, and a very precocious 14-mo old border collie. We are removing some trees, converting some to coppice or pollard, and using these yields for feed and fuel and soil building. Over the next few seasons we will try to nudge much of the area toward a mixed ground cover that offers more conventional pasture to supplement woody browse, and will hopefully help us to build up our depleted heavy clay soils. We will also be adding new trees over time, aiming for a wider diversity in the silvopasture area, plus propagations more diverse beneficial trees into the adjacent woodland over time.
