Brontosaurus -- Clearing strip for installation of fence

We are preparing to install agricultural fence.  We need to clear a fence line trough a rocky, overgrown (trees and brush) area.  I recall seeing a Fecon machine operate.  The equipment available is a BRONTOSAURUS mounted on a Caterpillar 312 Tracked Excavator.  The alternative is a BOBCAT T770 Rubber Tracked Loader with a 70" Davco Brush Cutter.  The operator toured the site, and is recommending use of the Brontosaurus.

This is all new to me.  I'm going to look at the operator's current job site, and will look with an untrained eye.  If anyone has any suggestions on what to look for, or what questions for me to ask the operator, or has any experiences to share (pro or con), I'd be grateful to hear from you.  The fence is going to be installed with a post pounder, cedar posts.

Maryanne,

The Brontosaurus should have a grinder head much like the FECON and will probably leave the ground cleaner and more passable with rubber-tired equipment.  The excavator with the Brontosaurus head should be more agile in areas with lots of rocks.
