Join Allegany County Cornell Cooperative Extension, Soil & Water Conservation District and Natural Resources Conservation Service staff for an on-farm workshop on establishing silvopasture systems in livestock pastures.
Farm owner, Lynn Bliven, will share how they got started planting trees to enhance the rotational grazing system for their cattle and sheep. She will cover goals for trees on their farm, species selection, tree protection and care, along with funding opportunities.
Gabriel Smith, CCE Tompkins Agroforestry Educator, will be on hand to discuss opportunities for including hazelnut and chestnut trees or other agroforestry practices on your farm.
There is no fee, however pre-registration is requested by September 30 to assist with planning materials for the workshop. Event will be held rain or shine. For more information, please contact Lynn Bliven lao3@cornell.edu or 585-268-7644 ext. 18. Registration link: https://reg.cce.cornell.edu/Silvopasture_Workshop_202
