- I'm a new farmer, with a focus on managed grazing of ruminants and pigs on pasture. I'm interested in stacking trees over productive pastures to diversify farm productivity. I'm interested in black locust silvopasture (for fenceposts, mostly), but also creating a forage/mast/fodder paradise for pigs and extensive poultry (honey locust, antonovka apple, hybrid chestnut, etc.) Will careful selection of genetics, I think silvopasture can help reduce significantly my costs to produce and finish animals. It's a long term project, but I'm starting now by securing seed and other planting materials. Thrilled to find this group!
