Wooded Pasture & Forestry NE History

Hello,

I am looking to learn more about the relationship between New England foresters and wooded pasture owners during the 20th century. In my research, I found mentions here and there about ill relationships between foresters and farmers, and forestry students were taught to keep livestock out of the woods. I am curious, though:

Did anyone do anything to make unmanaged forest pasturing stop?

How did wooded pasturing develop into silvopasture in New England over the course of the 20th century?
