Can you tell us a bit about this project, Jeff?  Acres?  Plan for reseeding?  What will the landowner graze it with?

Brett-

The photos are from a 30 acre silvopasture cut in the Hudson Valley.   The area had been high graded about a year and half ago.   Fortunately there was enough quality hardwood left to give us something to work with.  Invasive plant pressure is reasonably light.   Harvesting started mid December.   Ideally we would have done the harvesting last summer but we are limited to work from Nov 1 to March 31 due to Indiana bat and Blanding Turtle issues.   Tops are being 'stockpiled' in 6 or 7 areas on the 30 acres.   I'll upload a photo of that later.

The farmer will be running beef cattle in the area.  There has been talk of possibly grazing goats as well.   There are plans to reseed as soon as possible when the logging is completed and then possibly some bale grazing.   For now the plan is to seed using Joe's recommendation of a orchard grass and clover mixture.

It doesn't appear that the harvesting will be completed this year before the bat/turtle deadline.   More updates to follow.
