Hey everyone,
I thought some of you might be interested in a 2012 SARE Farmer Grant I received to experiment with silvopasture systems on my farm in Riverview, Saranac, NY. Here's a link to the project overview:
http://mysare.sare.org/mySARE/ProjectReport.aspx?do=viewRept&pn...
I'd be very interested to receive input from you all regarding this project and I'd be happy to discuss it further if anyone would like.
-Joe
There is also an attachement in the project overview which contains about two pages of cited references, some may be useful to folks on here. Lin et al (2001) was especially useful to me in determining what forages to plant.
I want to close the loop on this SARE Farmer Grant project I completed last year. The final report covers results of a two year trial of forest conversion to open pasture and silvopasture. Results can be found here: http://mysare.sare.org/sare_project/FNE12-762/
Additionally, I anticipate these results will be formally published in the journal Agroforestry Systems within the next year. Pending peer review.
If anyone has questions about the project please feel free to post them here.
