Event Description

Hi Everyone!

I've been building out this silvopasture class for Cornell Small Farms and it's gonna be a fun one! We'll do a deep dive into the ways people around the world are combining trees, grass, and animals in useful ways. Each week, students will create a piece of a silvopasture plan for their farm, so that they end up with a comprehensive silvopasture plan by the end of the course.

We'll cover these topics over the 6 weeks:
Week 1: Many Ways to Silvopasture
Week 2: Characteristics that Make Silvopastures Work
Week 3: Planting Silvopastures into Open Fields
Week 4: Starting with the Woods: A Narrow Path to Success
Week 5: Tree Leaves as Animal Feed
Week 6: The Big Picture: Money and Decision-Making
We'll definitely talk about food safety planning and working with NRCS. We'll also cover good reasons not to put trees everywhere in grazing systems! The "homework" will be a mix of video and written material, with optional detailed resources and opportunities for feedback on designs.
The course is open for enrollment now, with a few tiered pricing options. Wednesday evenings starting Jan 14th, 6:30-8:00 with lifetime access to recordings.
Please let me know if you have any questions or ideas: eli@sunfleckconsulting.com
Thanks!
